Radiant Discontinues Support of Legacy Microsoft Windows® Operating Systems With the Release of Aloha POS v6.4

Radiant will discontinue support for legacy operating systems as follows:

As of the release of Aloha POS version 6.4

»  Discontinue all support for Windows® 95
»  Discontinue all support for Windows® NT
»  Discontinue support for Windows® 98 on the BOH

As of January 2008

»  Discontinue all support for Windows® 98
»  Discontinue all support for Windows® ME

Radiant Systems is dedicated to being the easiest to use and most reliable restaurant technology solution in the marketplace. Key elements in that pursuit include continued innovation and improved usability, flexibility and functionality of our software.

As part of our efforts to achieve these goals, we implemented support for the latest Microsoft development tools. Migration of our development tools was necessary to ensure we stay in-line with Microsoft’s retirement schedule for the Visual Studio suite of tools. A side affect of this migration is the accelerated retirement of Windows® 98 and Windows® NT operating systems and the retirement of Windows® 98 for BOH installations. While we regret the earlier than planned retirement of support for these operating systems, no other option was available from Microsoft to extend the timeframe.

As a result of these actions, Radiant will be able to take advantage of new architectural and structural technologies for our software products. Also, these actions enable us to improve product quality by eliminating processes associated with the legacy operating systems. We will continue to support current Windows® operating systems that offer far superior operating capabilities, enhanced security and support for advanced application technologies.

What is Microsoft’s stance on these operating systems?

Each operating system addressed in this announcement is either already discontinued or in the process of being discontinued by Microsoft. The following information on these products is from Microsoft’s Windows® Product Life-Cycle Policy:

Microsoft discontinued sales of Windows® 95 on December 31, 2000 and support of the operating system December 31, 2001. Microsoft discontinued sales of Windows® 98 and Windows® 98 SE in July 2002 and Windows® ME in January 2004. Microsoft will discontinue the support of Windows® 98, Windows® 98 SE, Windows® ME on July 11, 2006. Microsoft discontinued sales of Windows® NT 4.x on June 30, 2002 and support of the operating system December 31, 2004.

What does Radiant mean by “discontinue” support?

Discontinuing support means:

»  Radiant will no longer develop software for operation on these operating systems.
»  Radiant will no longer test the operation of software on these operating systems.
»  Radiant will no longer correct product defects that result from the operation of software in these
    environments.
»  Radiant will not support new releases of software if installed on hardware running these operating
    systems.
