Did You Know?
Dealer “Alt X” Login
Removed for PCI-DSS Compliancy
On Friday,
December 25, Abacus will begin removing the Aloha dealer
“Alt X” login for our
customers on Command Center.
These security measures are being taken to comply with PCI-DSS guidelines
Disabling Alt+X Access to Aloha is mandatory for PCI
DSS Compliance. Beginning with Aloha POS v6.3, the Alt+X method of accessing Aloha QuickService, TableService, and EDC is no
longer available. To comply
with PCI DSS
requirements for versions of Aloha older than v6.3, you must disable the Alt+X
login method of access as this is also mandatory for compliance. You can disable
this method of access for all prior versions of these products.
In preparation for Abacus removing the ALT X login, please be sure to configure appropriate back office security
levels and users with strong passwords, as outlined in the
CISP Best
Practices Guide. Please contact your Abacus Business
Systems representative at 727-524-0177 for further help.
For customers on Aloha versions 6.3 and higher, the dealer login has already
been disabled. Please reference the following information regarding Aloha
versions set to expire.

Making More Money With Aloha
The Audit Report: Take Your Suspicious Activity
"Pulse"

Think your Profit and Loss Statement is breathing a little harder than usual?
Use your Audit Report to take its pulse.
The Audit Report provides detailed tracking of individual transactions that
occur in the Front of House. For example, the Audit
Report can indicate that a check was opened and items added and later the items
were removed from the check.
Among other important functions, the Audit Report offers:
»
The ability to filter or list any audit search by a specified check
number, employee, or job code which makes locating
discrepancies easier.
»
Credit card information is masked, and only restaurant staff with the appropriate back office
security level are able to
see full credit card information. (Aloha Version 6.4 and higher.)
»
You can now export to a comma separated value (CSV) file, to search, sort, and
filter data with
common programs, such as MS Excel. (Aloha Version 6.4 and
higher.)
»
The Audit report now contains petty cash transaction information. (Aloha Version
6.4 and higher.)
Think You're Too Busy to Review
the Audit Report?
Think again. The Audit Report gives you an easy way to make sure you keep
the money you make. For example, here are
three simple items to start watching on your audit report:
»
Cleared Items
»
No Sales
»
Delete Checkouts
If you are interested in Audit Report training or would like Abacus to provide
services to review your audit report for suspicious activity, please contact
your Abacus Representative or call our Customers Solutions Group to have a
representative discuss your options with you. Call
(727) 524-0177, option 3.

Aloha Tips and Tricks to Build Stronger P&L's
The Verbal Totals Scam
In this scam the employee either walks right up or uses the register as a prop
making it look like they are ringing items in and verbally gives the total to
the customer without ringing in the order on the POS System.
